What is Home Winterization?
Winterizing of a home takes place when a home will be vacant for a long period during cold weather. It is a step taken to prevent serious plumbing problems (such as frozen or burst pipes) from occurring while the house is empty. The process involves shutting off the water to the house, draining all the water out of the pipes and water heater, then filling the pipes with an anti-freeze solution. This allows the house to sit empty with the utilities off without worrying about returning to a plumbing disaster.
